"All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
That isn't a very promising scripture. Many may not like that message. It's true though. No man is righteous in the eyes of God. Many people may lead a "good life" but you are still sinful. Let me explain.
Sin entered into the world by one man, Adam. When man was created, we were sinless and righteous. We were created in the image of God and we were given dominion over everything that was on earth. (Genesis 1:26) Adam actually stood in the presence of God, he actually saw Him in His glory. God told Adam and Eve that they could eat of every tree in the garden except the tree of knowledge. Satan seduced them into disobeying God and they committed the first sin.(Genesis 3) When that happened, there was the separation of man from God. Man, who had authority and dominion bowed his knee to Satan and man was now dead in sin. Man could no longer look upon God because His glory and majesty would kill him. Satan was now the ruler of the world. Sin began to pass from generation to generation.
God hates sin, but He loves us so much that He is willing to forgive us. In the Old Testament, sins were covered by a sacrifice on an altar to God. "Without the shedding of blood there is no remission for sin." (Hebrews 9:22) When one sinned, he would take a sacrifice up to the altar and burn it as a sign of obedience and God would forgive him. As the world grew older, sins became more abundant. It got to the point where a simple animal sacrifice wasn't enough to cover the sins of men. God had to provide His own Lamb for the sacrifice. That Lamb had a name, Jesus Christ.
Jesus was sent into the world for one purpose, to die for our sins and reconcile us to God. He was the blood sacrifice for everyone. When He was crucified, He took all the sin that everyone has committed upon His shoulders. "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquity...and by His stripes we are healed!" (Isaiah 53:5)
You can be set free from this present evil world. We can become children of God once again. All you have to do is accept Jesus into your heart as your Savior. It's easy! Just ask Him in and He will. You will be born-again. (John 3:3) When Judgement Day comes, if you're born-again, God will see Jesus in you and He will allow you to enter the gates of Heaven, you will be home. Time is short, make the decision for Jesus Christ now!! Don't wait, you may not get another chance and if you should die without Jesus, you will spend eternity in torment with Satan and his angels. Think about it!! Read about God's love and forgiveness in the book of Romans. Get to know God and His eternal Word! Remember, He'll never leave you or forsake you. (Joshua 1:5; I Samuel 12:22) God loves you, (John 3:16) Amen!!
